Dr Suzana Akemi Tanimoto

Dr. Suzana Akemi Tanimoto is board certified in ophthalmology in Brazil and fellowship trained in glaucoma in both Brazil and the United States, as well as cataract surgery. Her Doctor of Medicine Degree and ophthalmology residency were completed at the most prestigious university in South America, Universidade de São Paulo – USP. During her fellowships, she was chosen to receive a grant that allowed her to work with world-renowned glaucoma specialists, Drs. James Brandt (Ocular Hypertension Treatment Trial, NIH) and Michele Lim, at the University of California at Davis. As a post-doctoral fellow with Dr. Brandt and the UC Davis Department of Ophthalmology, she worked on new technologies to diagnose and treat glaucoma. This research was presented at the World Glaucoma Congress in Lisbon, Portugal in 2005.

Dr. Tanimoto has also completed training with Dr. Cicero Coimbra, a renowned neurologist and professor at the Universidade Estadual de São Paulo- UNESP. Dr. Coimbra is the creator of the Vitamin D Protocol to treat autoimmune diseases, such as Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriasis.

Dr. Tanimoto completed certification as a Physician Assistant at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Myers, Florida and now practices ophthalmology at Ginsberg Eye. She will also be using her expertise in facial aesthetics to offer a wide range of non-surgical procedures in facial harmonization and 8 points facial lifting rejuvenation. (MD Codes™)

She is married to Dr. Ginsberg, whom she met in California while they were both in fellowship training. Together, they have one daughter. Her interests include world travel (especially in Brazil), painting, choral singing, tennis and spending time with her family. The Ginsberg family is active in the community. They have both served on the board of directors of the Lighthouse of Collier and as volunteers at the Bonita Springs Lions Eye Clinic.
